NOW IS OUR CHANCE TO STOP WASTEFUL PACKAGING AT THE SOURCE

BY INTRODUCING LAWS THAT MAKE
PRODUCERS RESPONSIBLE

3.jpg

The Australian Government is actively exploring the most effective ways to reform our packaging regulations, aiming to reduce waste, combat pollution, and support a circular economy.

A core focus is making producers accountable for the waste they generate, a critical step that will help drive down pollution and promote sustainable practices.

This moment presents an unprecedented opportunity to push for meaningful change in Australia’s packaging landscape and champion a cleaner, greener future.

Making producers responsible means they:

  • Avoid and reduce packaging in the first place

  • Design packaging that can be easily reused, composted or recycled

  • Cover the full costs of collecting and recovering their packaging.

As we’re rapidly approaching a critical decision point, please join us in calling for comprehensive legislation to turn the tide on waste and plastic pollution.

Australia is the second largest consumer of single-use plastic packaging in the world, and we only recycle 18% of it. It’s time for change.
